About Kaggen Threads

In Khoisan mythology, Kaggen is the great trickster and creator. He is not a tidy god. He makes things by accident, by stubbornness, by throwing his sandal into the sky in a moment of frustration and watching it catch the light and become the moon. He creates the eland, the most sacred of animals, and when it is taken from him too soon, he uses what remains to bring new life into the world. His creativity is not clean or calculated. It is messy and emotional and full of second chances.

We named the business after him because that felt honest.

Making things is rarely as graceful as it looks. A knitting project gets pulled apart and started over. A thrifted piece gets repaired, reimagined, given a new story. Nothing about slow fashion is fast or frictionless, and we think that is exactly the point. The care is in the doing, the unraveling, the trying again.

Kaggen does not create because it is easy. He creates because he cannot help it. We understand that feeling.

How It Started

We loved thrifting. We believed in it, in the thrill of finding something beautiful that someone else had let go, in the idea that good clothes deserve a second life. But we kept running into the same wall: fast fashion was everywhere, and the thrift spaces we found online felt like digging through a bin rather than discovering something special. We wanted slow fashion that felt intentional and curated, not an afterthought.

So we built it ourselves.

Kaggen Threads started as a solution to a problem we couldn't shop our way out of, and grew into something we're genuinely proud of, a small South African brand rooted in sustainability, craft, and care.

Meet The Makers

Kaggen Threads is run by Robyn and Mike, a couple who turned a shared frustration into a shared purpose.

Robyn is the hands behind the brand. She knits every piece of knitwear, handles repairs and alterations, sources and curates the thrifted finds, and takes care of packaging and shipping. If it involves making, mending, or sending, that's her. She's the kind of person who sees potential in a forgotten garment and patience in a long project, which makes her a natural fit for slow fashion.

Mike brings the brand to life online. With years of experience in digital marketing, he handles everything that gets Kaggen Threads seen: the strategy, the storytelling, the social media presence. He's the reason the work Robyn puts in behind the scenes actually reaches the people who'll love it.

Together, they're two people who got tired of settling for fast, disposable fashion and decided to offer something better.
